Tuttle resident John Morris passed away peacefully at home on November 6, 2025 at the age of 88. John was born to CA and Helen Morris on February 2, 1937 in Alva, Oklahoma.
John graduated from Shawnee High school then continued his education on a football scholarship to Miami, Oklahoma. Due to a shoulder injury he then joined the forestry in Iowa in 1955. He then returned to Oklahoma to start his farming and ranching. He met Darline, they married and welcomed their son Wade.
After many years of farming and ranching he moved to Tuttle to start a family with Tonya and MaRanda. John and Tonya married on July 16, 1992 and just celebrated 33 years of marriage. John had a fulfilling life most would dream of. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was a Golden Eagle of the NRA and was very proud of being #11842, and now there is over 5 million memberships. If he knew you wasn't a member to the NRA he would pay for your first year of membership. He also enjoyed Nascar with his adult beverage. He loved being Papa John to the grandkids and many more. He also had to have his headphones on by 11am to listen to Rush Limbaugh, and the TV on to watch Fox News while reading the newspaper everyday from front to back.
He is preceded in death by his parents, CA Morris and Helen (Hussman) Morris; his sister Donna and her husband Steve; and his son, Wade Morris.
John is survived by his wife of the home, Tonya Morris; his daughter, MaRanda Newby and her husband Bryan Newby; his grandchildren, Zack Payne, & Aubrey Morris; great-grandchildren, Delta Morris & Colton; brother, Tom Morris; nephew Doug Morris; as well as many nieces and nephews.
