Joel Leslie Phillips
The Celebration of Life for Joel Phillips will be on Saturday April 12th 2025, 3 o'clock in the afternoon at First Baptist Church Chickasha, OK.
Joel passed away on April 1st 2025 at 11:15pm in Chickasha OK at the age of 82.
Joel graduated from Abilene High School in 1960 where he was very active in the music program. Joel attended Abilene Christian College and North Texas State University, then entered into the Army in 1963 and attended Officer Candidate School and worked his way up to Captain. Joel served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1970. In 1975 Joel was saved and Baptized at Trinity Baptist Church in Chickasha. In 1976 Joel graduated from OCLA(USAO) with a Business Administration Degree. In 1980 Joel surrendered to Music and Education Ministry. Joel served as Music Minister at Trinity Baptist Church and for a short time at The Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs, OK. He was called to First Baptist Church of Chickasha as Education Minister and served there for many years. Joel was a servant of the Lord and lived that every day.
Joel and Clara were married on December 22nd 1965 after knowing each other for just 4 months. It was a match made in Heaven because it last for just over 59 years.
Joel was born on August 20th 1942 in Abilene Texas. He is preceded in Heavenly life by his father Raymond Leslie Philips, mother Vida Christine Phillips, brother Cecil Robert Phillips, & sister Geraldine Williams.
He is remembered on this Earth by his spouse Clara Mae Phillips, eldest son Floyd Leslie Phillips, & youngest Son Gary Seton Phillips along with his wife Amy Phillips, grandson Asher Phillips and granddaughter Aurora Phillips. He is also remembered by Jandra Wright, Bill Fiveash Jr, John Fiveash, Robert Phillips, Robbin Morgan, Cheryl Perkins, & Scott Briscoe.
In Lieu of flowers, the family would like people to make a donation to their favorite charity.
