Rev. Joe O. Capps

Rev. Joe O. Capps was born August 7, 1928 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Joseph and Mattie (Robinson) Capps.  He passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 88.

He served in the Merchant Marines in 1945.

Bro. Capps married Mary Louise Wiles on February 27, 1947.  He started his working life in the oilfield as a pumper.  In 1959 he was called into the ministry and attended OBU in Shawnee, OK.  He was a pastor at Michigan Ave Baptist Church, Trinity Baptist Church and Vimey Ridge Baptist Church among others.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary L. Capps; and his sister and brother.

Bro. Capps is survived by his daughters:  Vicki Hall of Chickasha, OK;

Mary Paisley of Chickasha, OK;

4 grandchildren:  David Doss of West, Texas; Carrie Hodges of Velma, OK;

Kenny Hall of League, TX; Lissa Woody of Chickasha, OK;

8 great grandchildren
