Alton "Jerry" McGuffin

Alton Jerry McGuffin, 82 years old, of Cement, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, July 18th, 2024 resting comfortably in his home.

Jerry was born on December 22, 1941 to Nell and Dallas McGuffin at Laverty, Oklahoma. After graduation from Cement High School in 1959 Jerry worked several jobs in Chickasha including making Cheese at the Armour Creameries. After marrying the love of his life Carolyn Kendall in 1960 he spent 8 years working at Aircraft Engine Service in Oklahoma City.  In 1972 he and Carolyn moved back to the family farm to raise their family and start the Dairy that he and his family worked on for 30 years.  After retiring from dairy farming Jerry managed salt water disposals for the next 10 years before going fully into retirement.

Carolyn and Jerry had two children, Vickie McGuffin Moore of Ninnekah Oklahoma and Greg McGuffin of Prosper Texas, They also raised adopted son John McGuffin of Michigan and foster son Shawn Battenhorst of Canadian Texas.

In. 2012, Jerry retired and spent his time hunting, fishing and spoiling his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

Jerry was predeceased by his brother Kenneth, father Dallas, mother Nell and Grandson Seth Hoover. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughter Vickie, son Greg and adopted son John Gentry, foster son Shawn Battenhorst and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Graveside Service will be held at Laverty Cemetery on Saturday July 20th, 2024 at 7:00 am under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Laverty Baptist Church where Jerry served as a deacon for 50 years this month.
