Jean Unruh

Erma "Jean" Schmidt Unruh, 81, of Chickasha, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at her home in Chickasha.  She was born August 16, 1937 in Cement, Oklahoma to Ferdie and Irene (Sebrant) Schmidt.

Jean married Gilbert Unruh on May 10, 1956.  They made their home in several different places in Chickasha. In 1972, they settled on their farm southwest of Chickasha.  She enjoyed gardening, birdwatching and the cattle.  She was an excellent cook and often shared her cinnamon rolls with others.  She worked at the Chickasha Hospital and several nursing homes.  She also cooked at Pioneer School.  She was a member of Plainview Mennonite Church.

She is preceded in death by a granddaughter and one sister.

Jean is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gilbert Unruh of Chickasha, OK;

Children:  Allen Unruh and wife Soonie, of Cement, OK; Douglas Unruh and wife Janifer, Chickasha, OK; Brenda Nightingale and husband Mark, of Cement, OK; Martin Unruh and wife Kimberly, of Chickasha, OK; Clifford Unruh and wife Letha, of Chickasha, OK;

Grandchildren: Danny and Melissa Nightingale; Kara and Troy Smith; Kendra Nightingale, Jeremy Unruh, Daryl Nightingale, Austin and Krista Unruh; Zachary and Alicia Unruh; Amber Unruh, Trey Unruh, Nil Unruh, Miranda Nightingale, Case Unruh, Jessica Unruh and Riley Unruh;

Great Grandchildren:  Rikki Smith, Morgan Nightingale, Todd Smith and Emari Smith;

4 sisters and 6 brothers:  Verna Boehs, Fairview, OK; Lenora Unruh, Cement, OK; Ethelene and Raymond Unruh, Bradley, AR; Belinda and Willis Koehn, Scio, OR; Milferd and Rosetta Schmidt, Livingston, CA; Gilmer and Margaret Schmidt, Fleetwood, PA; Roger and Carolyn Schmidt, Chickasha, OK; Elgin and Bonnie Schmidt, Macon, MS; Lindon and Karen Schmidt, Chickasha, OK; and Eulan and LaDonna Schmidt, Emelle, AL.
