Jay Patton Clingman was born on July 6, 1960 to Elmer Tucker Clingman (E.T or Spec) and Virginian Patton Clingman in Midland TX. Following his naval service in WWII, E.T was a tool pusher in the Oil Field. His job took Virginia and the kids from Midland to Ozona TX, Louisiana and eventually to Moore, OK. Jay graduated from West Moore High School in 1978 and then went on to complete his Bachelors in Business Administration at the University of Central Oklahoma. While attending UCO, Jay worked at Tech Chem, a Production Chemical and Pump Service company owned by E.T. He also worked at Service Merchandise and the Oklahoma City Stockyards.
Jay encountered a crossroads where he could move to Maine to be a store manager for service merchandise or stay in Oklahoma. He chose to stay in Oklahoma and in 1986 he and Doyle French, with the help of E.T, started their own business in the Oil and Gas industry called Chemical Dynamics Corporation. The two fought through the hard times and eventually had a successful Production Chemical and Service Company.
Jay met Karen Lynn Wolfe in 1987. The two were married in 1989. They had a child in 1992 named Matthew Patton Clingman.
Doyal eventually retired in 2005 and Jay continued to run the business until 2024. Jay also had an interest in farming. He had some land in Tuttle, OK where he raised cattle. He enjoyed working in the patch. He made it a point to take care of his employees and his customers some of whom became close friends. He enjoyed working on the farm taking care of the cattle and improving the operation. Even though he stayed busy with business and the farm he still managed to make time for his family. He enjoyed activities outside of work such as shooting sports, fishing, tinkering on old cars, jigsaw puzzles and gardening. He enjoyed a variety of music genres and watching the sunsets on the farm.
Jay battled several health issues throughout his life and he continued to persevere. He went on with his days as if nothing was going on and it was business as usual. Jay left this earth and went home on May 12th, 2024 after battling an infection. Jay was the youngest of four siblings. He is preceded in death by his parents Elmer Tucker Clingman and Virginia Patton Clingman and sibling Katheryn Clingman Monroe. He is survived by his wife Karen Lynn Clingman, his brother Judge Gary Lynn Clingman, his sister Teresa Clingman Deshaw and his son Matthew Patton Clingman. Jay Patton Clingman was a loving father, faithful husband and a genuinely thoughtful individual towards others and he held onto his faith throughout his life. Rest in peace Dad. Your family and friends love you and we will see you soon.
