Jake Shaffer was born June 4, 1947 in Shidler, Oklahoma. He was the son of Frank and Johnnie (Rowe) Shaffer. Jake died Friday, January 29, 2016 in Chickasha at the age of 68.
Jake graduated from Chickasha High School in 1965. He married Mignon King August 12, 1965.
He received his bachelor and master's degrees from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he played baseball for Jerry Jobe.
He taught school in Woodward before moving to Cement where he served as baseball coach, he then was the Principal at Cyril High School for three years before returning to Chickasha where he was assistant principal at Chickasha High School. He was also a life insurance agent.
Jake and Mignon founded Jakes Rib in Chickasha in 1982. In 1994 they owned and operated
Star Trophy.
His wife, Mignon Shaffer preceded him in death on January 31, 2013. His parents and one sister, Ella Mae Schneider also preceded him in death.

Phil Shaffer and his wife Melanie
Three grandchildren:
Heston, Braden and Cade Shaffer.
A nephew, Chad Schneider and niece, Shelby Gray
