Jack Waunah Parrish passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023 in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 95. He was born April 12, 1927 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to David L. "Jack" Parrish and Lillie Belle (Todd) Parrish.
Jack was born and raised in Chickasha, he graduated from Chickasha High School in 1944. He joined the United States Navy in 1945 where he was stationed in Guam and was honorably discharged in 1946. After coming out of the Navy, Jack returned to Chickasha and briefly attended Cameron University on the G.I. Bill. He then went to work for the Public Service Company where he worked until he retired after 39 years. Jack played in a local semi-professional softball league for several years. Jack met his wife, Lou Ellen (Huey) Parrish in 1949 and then on March 24, 1951 in Wichita Falls, Texas they were married. Together they had 3 children. Jack enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, horseback riding, coaching little league baseball, as well as team roping in the early 1970s, he also belonged to the Circle C riding club so his grandchildren could ride in rodeo grand entries and parades. He loved golfing and going out to the lake with his family and teaching them and their friends to ski. He was a member of Great Plains Emmaus and worked several walks and made lifelong friendships with people across the western part of the state.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lily Parrish; sister and husband, Barbara and Chester Pawley; Niece, Carol Pawley; son-in-law, Ronnie Stewart; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Parrish.
Jack is survived by his wife, Lou Parrish; daughters, Suzi Stewart of Chickasha, OK; Stacy Whaley and husband, Don of Munster, IN; son, John Parrish and wife, Vicki of Elk City; grandchildren, Kathryn and Shaun Winfrey of Germantown, TN, Matthew Grisham of Breckenridge, CO; Jamie and Tyson Smith of Elk City; Julie and Jamie Stuart of Wright City; Marlee Whaley and Bobby Colantuona of Hobart, IN; Autumn Whaley of Beaverton, OR; step-grandson, David Stewart and Alla of Miami, FL; great grandchildren, Ava, Ryan, Lily, Jayson, Jaxon, Adalynn, Sadie, Lane, Kian, Isabella, Sasha; brother, Don and Chris Parrish, Yukon, OK. Special friend, Veronica Osei formerly of Ghana, Africa, now of Chickasha. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
