Irene Marie Bitsche

Irene Marie Bitsche passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 90.  She was born January 12, 1927 in Sharon, Kansas to Pete and Marie (Gassen) Hommertzheim.

She was raised in Sharon, Kansas and graduated from Sharon High School.  She married John Henry Bitsche on June 16, 1947 in Sharon.  Together they were owners of Bitsche's Nursery and Greenhouse in Chickasha.

Irene was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and belonged to Holy Name Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society.  As her children grew up she was involved with many of their activities including the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.  In her spare time she enjoyed painting, ceramics, crocheting and many other crafts.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John on March 27, 2014; a granddaughter, Alma (Allie) Bitsche; a son-in-law, Charlie Duff; and six brothers and sisters.

Irene is survived her children:  James Bitsche; Edward Bitsche and his wife, Elaine; Kathy (Kay) Duff; Cindy Hervey and her husband, Charlie; and Melvin Bitsche and his wife, Beth; all of Chickasha, OK;

Grandchildren: Marie and Matt Bosworth; Donna Bitsche; Phyllis and Russ Swensen; Angie and Ronnie Self, Jr; Brian and Dustin Myers; Brandon and Teri Bitsche; Mathew and Toni Bitsche; Dana and Tim Catlett; Vickie Kauffman; Cole and Sara Hervey;

18 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
