Homer Leroy Forsythe, Jr.

Homer Leroy Forsythe, Jr., age 85, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on January, 2, 2025 of natural causes.

Homer (known as Jr. when he was younger) was born on July 24, 1939 to Homer Leroy Forsythe and Clara Kathrine Forsythe in Elgin, Oklahoma. Homer graduated high school in Chickasha, OK and went on to study business at the University of Oklahoma. He met his first wife, Barbara Faith (Cunningham) while he was home from University and she was walking down the street with a friend while attending the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, OK.

After graduation, Homer joined the Oklahoma National Guard Reserve, married Barbara, started working for Fleming Foods, and raised three sons, Robert Anthony (Tony), William Clarence (Bill), and Michael Joseph (Mike), in Oklahoma City. His job and position of VP of Operations with Fleming Foods moved his family to Houston, Texas and then to Plano, Texas with the White Swan spin off from Fleming Foods.

When asked what he wanted to do in retirement, Homer had a hard time coming up with anything. So, he didn't stop. He continued working in the produce area running his own company HLF Freight as well as partnering with his son Tony's company, NPC, LLC., along with D&T Brokerage Inc. While he slowed down some through the years, he loved providing for his family, the interaction with his work associates, and working with other family members.

After Barbara's death in 2010, Homer met and married Janette Brown in 2013 in Plano, Texas. Janette and Homer frequently traveled both domestically and internationally, seeing much of the US, going on cruises, train rides, and traveling to the Vatican.

Homer was predeceased by his parents and Barbara.

He is survived by three sisters, Mary Jenson, Katherine Thacker, and Juanita and John Sullivan, his three sons Tony and fiancee Telma Ward with his current three grandchildren and one great grandchild, Bill and Shirley with six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Mike and Renee' with four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. As well as Janette's children, Muriel and Bruce McFarling, Desiree Dial, Sean and Tammy Brown, and Gina and Tyler Lowe, plus seven grandchildren.

Homer was secure by his faith which was the foundation of his family. He was also passionate about trains, warehousing, logistics, retail distribution, the fresh produce industry, and the Oklahoma Sooners. He enjoyed numerous work trips to the various growing fields across the U.S., but the harvest of fresh potatoes and the cellars was his favorite. Homer coached, mentored, and was a steadfast friend to have, while positively influencing numerous people during his life. He truly loved to rock in his chair, laugh, and enjoyed life to its fullest.
