Hazel O'Leta Cummings was born the daughter of Charles Wesley Spencer and Gertrude (Clark) Spencer on
August 27, 1916, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma. She died on February 18, 2016, in Oklahoma City.
O'Leta grew up in the Acme area of Rush Springs and graduated from Rush Springs High School.
She married a Duncan boy, Glen Eugene Cummings on November 16, 1935, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
They were married for almost 68 years before Glen's death in 1993. Glen served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and O'Leta followed him from coast to coast. They have lived in many places including: Cape Cod, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Oklahoma City, Chickasha, Perry, and Duncan. They Owned and operated Drillers Engine and Supply in Oklahoma City for many years, and O'Leta worked for the Sears Roebuck Company before retiring in 1974.
They then built a house and moved to Rush Springs. They enjoyed the country life and spent many winters in South Texas. After Glen's passing, O'Leta moved to Duncan and in July of 2015, she moved to the Brookdale Assisted Living in Chickasha. She was a member of the Eastside Church of Christ in Duncan.
O'Leta enjoyed her garden and working in her yard. She also enjoyed hand quilting and doll collecting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Cummings; her parents, Charles Wesley Spencer and Gertrude Clark Spencer; her brothers, Samuel Edmund Spencer, Harmon Spencer, Harold Spencer and her sister, Ellen Allen.
She is survived by her nieces; Rita Allen, Carol Canning, and Alice Hurry; her nephew, Ezekiel Earl Allen, and a host of grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
