A celebration of Vern's life will be held at the Tuttle Methodist Church on Thursday, April 4th, 2024, at 10 AM, followed by a graveside service at Oakland Cemetery located northeast of El Reno at 2 PM. Arrangements are by Sevier Funeral Home. The family expresses their gratitude to the staff of Russel Murray and Amada senior care, for their compassionate care.
Harry Vern Wilkerson was born in Banner, Oklahoma at home, on September 28th, 1930, to Lulu "Lula" Schumacher, and Harry Brian Wilkerson. He passed away peacefully after living life at its fullest for 93 years, on March 31st, 2024, at his home with his loving, caring wife, Gladys.
He graduated from El Reno High School in 1949 and furthered his education in Okmulgee, graduating in 1951, as a skilled diesel mechanic.
He married the love of his life, Gladys Marie Miller, on July 13th, 1952, and together they shared 71 remarkable years. Vern worked for Halliburton Oil in Corpus Christi and Pleasanton, Texas, before settling in Tuttle in 1962. It was here he dedicated his days to farming. His commitment to his community was evident through his involvement in the Tuttle Methodist Church, RWD #6, and the Silver City Antique Tractor Club.
Vern's memory will be forever cherished by his beloved wife, Gladys Marie Miller; three daughters, Patsy Singletary and husband, Gary, of Minco, Carol Wilkerson of Tuttle and Pamela Anderson of Kingwood, Texas; two granddaughters, Rachel Ragsdale (Wiseman) and Brett of Piedmont, Rabecca Karunaratne and Evan, of Crescent; two great-grandchildren, Audrey, and Vincent; his brother, Darrell Franklin Wilkerson of Yukon, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings, Donald Jean Wilkerson, Ruth Louise Wallace, and Leonard Dale Wilkerson.
