Margie Gwen Tow Cox was born on October 2, 1928, in Ryan, OK, to Floyd Tow and Ruth Marie Langdon Tow. She died March 9, 2024 at the age of 95.

Funeral service for Gwen Cox will be Friday, March 15, 2024, at Epworth United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Gwen grew up in Jefferson County attending school in Ryan, Terrell and Sugden, OK. She graduated from Sugden High School in 1947. She earned a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma College for Women and a master's degree in elementary education from the University of Oklahoma.

She and Robert R. Cox were married October 9, 1949, in Chickasha, OK.

Gwen taught school in Caddo and Grady County. She was a first-grade teacher for the last 25 years of her career in Chickasha Public Schools, retiring in 1991.

Gwen was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She served on many committees and taught Sunday School. She helped organize the first Mother's Day Out program and the Terrific Tuesday activity day for Senior Citizens.

She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, Yet Set Group, Kappa Kappa Iota Teacher's Society, Grady County, and Oklahoma State Retired Teachers organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ruth Marie Tow; her husband Robert "Bob" Cox; brothers, Maurice Tow, Larry and wife Lola Tow, and DeWayne Tow; sisters, Donella and husband Duron Howard, Peggy Phelps, and Phyllis Cogdell; brother-in-law Jonce E. Cox; daughter-in-law Tracy Cox.

Gwen is survived by her children, Pam and husband Doug Cooper, Robert and wife Nancy Cox, and Mark Cox; brothers, Jack and wife Betty Tow, Phillip and wife Gay Neil Tow; Sister-in-law, Sally Cox; grandchildren, Robin and Chad Dedmon, Brian and Jenn Cooper; great-grandchildren, Aiden Allen Cooper, Emma Rose Cooper, and Hensley Marie Dedmon; and many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to Glenhaven Retirement Village and Lifeline Hospice for her care over the last few years.
