Gladys Marie Nightingale

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2022, at Plainview Mennonite Church, Verden, OK. Interment will be at Plainview Mennonite Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Gladys Marie Nightingale, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022, in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 91. She was born March 16, 1931 in Copeland, Kansas to Dan Smith and Alice (Unruh) Smith.

Gladys spent her younger years in Copeland, Kansas and moved to Ringwood, Oklahoma to attend school. In the 1950s Gladys moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma for work. During this time she met her husband Paul Nightingale at a youth gathering and the couple married soon after in February of 1954. The couple was married for 67 faithful years before Paul's passing in 2021. They had five children together and settled in Chickasha, where Gladys enjoyed being a devoted mother and working on the family farm. She was an avid gardener and had many beautiful flowers she cared for. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Alice Smith; husband, Paul Nightingale; daughter-in-law, Connie Nightingale; sisters, Darlene Koehn and Orpha  Smith; brother, Leon Smith.

Gladys is survived by her sons, Kevin Nightingale, Wilbur Nightingale, Arden Nightingale and wife Beverly; daughters, Lucinda Nightingale, Lavonna Smith and husband Michael; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family.
