George Durington

Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022, at Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

George M Durington of Lindsay, OK, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, in Lindsay, OK at the age of 67. He was born September 29, 1954, in Tishomingo, OK to Bobby Durington and Betty (Tipps) Merrell.

George graduated from Chickasha High School in 1972. During High School, he worked for Purdue as a carpenter and then went to work in the oilfield at the age of 18, building locations. George married his high school sweetheart, Renee, in 1974 at Sharon Baptist Church. They had two children together, Tanner in 1980, and Callie in 1982. George worked in the oilfield all over the world traveling to many different countries.

When he was young, he liked riding bulls, playing football, and riding Harleys; he continued to ride Harley's throughout the rest of his life. He went to Sturgis several times and on many hunting trips with his close friends Mike Jolley and John Waitman. George loved hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors. He loved family gatherings and being with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

George always wanted to help people and he always supported many charities including Toys for Tots, Wounded Warriors, and many others.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and Stepdad, Bill Merrill.

George is survived by his wife, Renee (Clark) Durington; his son, Tanner and wife Christina Durington; his daughter Callie and husband Ryan Wood; grandchildren: Wyatt, Grayce, Kole, Sabrie, Preston, Paisley, and Zoey; great-grandchildren: Elaina, Jozie, and Violet; Aunt Darlene and Uncle Jeff Newby, cousins Cory, Mel, Brandy, Johnny, Judd, and Tammie. His siblings: Echo and Yogi Southwell, Bailey Durington, Brent and Robin Merrell, Landa and Rick Ramsey; stepmother, Frankie Durington, and family, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
