Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2022, at Alex High School, Alex, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Forrest "Wayne" Moore was born on December 18, 1938, near Rocky Point between Alex and Rush Springs in Grady County, OK. He passed from this life on May 11, 2022, at Chickasha, OK. Wayne was the third son of Tol and Doffeene (Dutton) Moore and was named after Forrest Bray of Rush Springs.  He spent his earliest years near the banks of Roaring Creek and started school at the one-room school house at Rocky Point that his father and other family members attended before him, all under the strict eye of teacher Lillian Pursley.  Wayne excelled at team sports and played baseball at Rocky Point before transferring to Alex School around the 7 th grade.  He was not an outstanding student but was introduced to football, a sport that would become his passion. Wayne often said that his Alex Junior High football team could have beaten the Alex High School team at any moment on any given day, and legend has it that Alex Coach BM McElroy curtailed scrimmages between the two teams just for that reason.

A fullback, Wayne wore number 33 during his high school football career at Alex.  Along the way, his relationship with his Alex School classmate "Sue" Manning deepened to become the love of his life.  Wayne was a starter on the eleven-man 1957 Alex Football team that until 2014 was the only Alex team to have ever played for the state championship.  He and Sue graduated from Alex High School in 1958 and married at the Alex Methodist Church in Alex on August 15, 1959.

Wayne and Sue built a new home near Alex in 1965 and settled in to raise their young family. Wayne worked in the Oklahoma oil and gas industry his entire life.  He roughnecked, drove a truck, managed General Tool & Supply in Lindsay, OK, and worked as a pumper for Mobil Oil Company.  In 1972, he struck out on own his when he started the post-production management company G&W Contract Pumping.  He worked seven days a week without complaint from that point on and "checking wells" became a family way of life.

Wayne was a generous and loving father to his two children, Teresa and Greg, teaching hard work, honesty and lots of laughter.  With the birth of his first grandchild in 1985, Wayne became "Paw-Paw." He doted on his three grandchildren, teaching them to drive, playing tricks on them at every turn and attending every school event and activity as long as he was able.

Wayne and Sue Moore had been married 59 years at her death in 2019.  Wayne moved to Glenhaven Assisted Living Center later that year and received outstanding care there.  Although his greatest desire was to return home to live, Wayne enjoyed his time at Glenhaven and did the two-step with every "girl" on the place.

Family members who departed this world before Wayne include his grandmother, Mary Edna Towery of Bradley; parents Tol and Doffeene Moore; in-laws Earl and Dorse Manning; brother Bill Moore; faithful dog Jake and beloved wife, Valvia Sue (Manning) Moore, all of Alex.  Those left to mourn his passing include daughter Teresa Moore of Alex; son Greg Moore and wife Tina of Shell Knob, MO; grandson Will Moore of Stillwater; granddaughter Jessica Davenport Moreno and husband Andrew of Alex; granddaughter Ann Davenport Cauthen and husband Ryan of Norman; and his much-loved great-grandson, Spencer Moreno, the sixth continuous generation of Wayne's family to attend Alex School.

Other surviving family members include Wayne's brother, Eskel Moore and wife Rose of Lavaca, AR; sister Joyce Moore of Bridge Creek; brother Jimmy Moore and wife Louise of Duncan; brother Jesse Moore and wife DiAnn of Shell Knob. MO; a host of nephews, a scarcity of nieces and many, many cherished friends.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home in Chickasha.  Wayne will be interred alongside his wife at Godwin Corner in the old Morris section of the Alex Cemetery with Marty Hobbs, Aaron Hobbs, Brian Moore, Andrew Moreno, Ryan Cauthen and Will Moore serving as pallbearers. Spencer Moreno will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family would like to thank the staff at Glenhaven Assisted Living and Lifeline Home Health for their support and assistance. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to the Alex Alumni Scholarship Fund be made in Wayne's name at the First National Bank and Trust of Chickasha.
