Ruth Elwina Marlow was born October 23, 1927 in Butler, Oklahoma to Berthel and Ruth (Harper) Allred. She passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 88.
Mrs. Marlow was raised in Oakwood, OK and graduated from Oakwood High School. At the age of 16, she attended the University of Oklahoma and received her Bachelor's degree in journalism. Her first job after college was at the Henryettan Newspaper in 1947. She later received her teaching certificate and earned her Master's degree in Elementary Education Administration from the University of Oklahoma. In 1962, she began her teaching career at Tuttle teaching 6th grade until retiring as the elementary principal in the mid 80's. During her career as an educator, Mrs. Marlow mentored many young teachers and administrators. She was loved by her students and enjoyed seeing the successes of her former students. An avid reader, she was recognized in Oklahoma for her support of school libraries.
She married Roy F. (Bill) Marlow on September 2, 1948 in Norman, OK at the McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church. They were married for 51 years and 8 months until Roy's death on May 19, 2000.
She and Roy enjoyed traveling which included nearly all 50 states in the United States and Russia, England and France. After retirement they spent their winters in south Texas. They enjoyed attending OU football and basketball games. Elwina loved her church and her Sunday School Class at Tuttle First Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending her leisure time with the ladies in the South Point neighborhood. She especially loved her grandchildren and going to their activities.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her parents and her son-in-law, Tony Carr.

5 grandchildren: Kayla Nicholson of Norman, OK; Kristen Moss of Edmond, OK; Ty Carr of Norman, OK; Sean Marlow of Las Vegas, NV; and Taylor Marlow of Norman, OK
And 1 brother, Euen Allred of Oletha, KS
