Ellen "Evelyn" Tankersley

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 9 ^th , 2020 at Sharon Baptist Church.  Interment will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 9 ^th at Murray Cemetery, Binger, Oklahoma, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Ellen Charlene "Evelyn" Tankersley, 80, of Chickasha, OK passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 in Chickasha.  She was born August 12, 1939 in Alfalfa, Oklahoma to Grady Steel and Maxine (Mullis) Walton.

She was baptized on her grandmother's farm in Alfalfa, OK.

Evelyn married Junior Tankersley on June 18, 1957 in Wichita Falls, Texas.  She had been a secretary at Fidelity Bank and a bookkeeper at Kerr-McGee in Oklahoma City, OK.  They moved to California in 1962, where she worked at the Bank of Stockton and San Joaquin County.  She retired in 2001 after 19 ½ years at the bank.  They moved to Chickasha in 2008 and was a member of Sharon Baptist Church.

Evelyn is survived by her husband Junior Tankersley;

Daughter, Carmen Swanson and wife Jeannie Swanson;

Son, Todd Tankersley

Grandchildren: Kristen Simmons and Joshua Tankersley;

sisters: Verna Mae Phipps and Vanda White;

and many nieces, nephews and others she considered 'her kids'.
