Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, October 31, 2022 at the Sevier Funeral Home Chapel, Chickasha, OK. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Elizabeth Viola "Deanna" (Pickel) Nabors, age 85 years 7 months and 20 days was born March 4, 1937 in Michie, Tennessee to John Dee and Florence (Crow) Pickel. Deanna passed away peacefully on October 24, 2022 in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
Growing up she worked at Crow's Café and Crow's Grocery. She attended school in Chickasha, Oklahoma graduating in 1956. After high school, she attended nursing school in Clinton, Oklahoma. She married John Henry Nabors on November 30, 1957 where they started their lives and raised three children in the Chickasha area. She owned and operated the Flower Box in Chickasha beginning in 1977. She lived in Willows, California, Reno, Nevada, Dallas, Texas and Oklahoma City where she retired from Zales Jewelers in 1997. She loved being everyone's Mom and Grandma and never met a stranger. She enjoyed everything purple, decorating for every holiday, making flower arrangements, collecting Kewpies, drinking coca-cola, cooking fried potatoes and fried chicken, sewing, gardening, singing and dancing, shopping, traveling to Pigeon Forge, always being ready to go and laughing.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, John Dee Pickel and Florence Hall; her husband, John Henry Nabors; Step-dad, Walter Hall; Brother, Douglas Pickel; Brother-in-law, Derrill Nicholson, her very special Aunts Evaleen Amstutz, Charleen Kirk and Stella Kineard, many other family and friends.
She is survived by her lovely three children- Daughter, Joanne Chain and husband Leroy of Weatherford, OK, Son, Ray Nabors and wife Gina of Norman, OK and Son, John Nabors and wife Kathy of Chickasha, OK. Four grandchildren- Michelle Lee and husband Brandon of Weatherford, OK, Michael Chain and Kristin Kniech of Oklahoma City, OK, Bryan Nabors of Norman, OK, and Tasha Munger and Cajun Vaughan of Oklahoma City, OK. 3 great-grandchildren Asher Lee, Haelie Carman, and Chloie Ward. Sister, Julia Nicholson, Brothers John Pickel, Jr. and James Pickel, Cousin/Sister-In Law, Mildred Nabors and Brother-in Law, Hubert Morren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
