Delores "Dody" Ann Meeks

Delores Ann Meeks was born January 3rd, 1935 in Bangor, Maine. She passed from this life February 8th, 2023 in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 88. She was the eldest child born to James and Dorothy Peters. She was raised in Maine, and although she moved away, she always referred to it as home. Delores was blessed with 8 children from her marriage to David Meeks. She raised 6 boys and 2 girls and was able to be in her grandchildren's lives, who

nick-named her "Grandma Dody." She was well known for her amazing homemade bread and it was a favorite of her family and friends.

Delores divorced in 1979 and moved to Portland, Maine for a few years, returning to Chickasha in 2008. While in Maine, her life changed dramatically when she became the Private Secretary for Kevin Eastman, the creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. She had countless fun adventures and met so many famous and interesting people, and artists in her 20 years of service.

Delores loved to play hymns on the piano and crochet, making afghans for many friends and family. She had a strong faith in God and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Donny Peters of Portland, Maine. She lost 3 of her sons, Jeffrey, Steven and Brian Meeks.

She is survived by her brother, Clayton Peters of Portland, Maine, son Larry Meeks and daughter-in-law Susan of Houston, Texas, daughter Tammy Echerd and son-in-law Ed of Melbourne, Florida, son Patrick Meeks and daughter-in-law Pam of Lorton, Virginia, daughter Carrie Chavers and son-in-law Randy of Chickasha, Oklahoma, son Kelly Meeks of North Richland Hill, Texas.

She was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Vicki Ebisch of Republic, Missouri was Dody's best friend and traveling companion for years. She was her sister at heart and we are grateful for her friendship. We are grateful for the kindness extended to our mother while she was at Brookdale Assisted Living, and Chickasha Nursing Center and the wonderful caring staff who loved our mother.

Delores was cremated under the services of Sevier Funeral Home in Chickasha, Okla, and internment in Portland, Maine with Brooklawn Cemetery. A graveside memorial will be held later this year with family in Portland, Maine.
