Funeral Service for Delbert Lynn Busby will be Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Sevier Funeral Home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.  Interment will follow with military honors at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.   Visitation will be on Tuesday and Wednesday February 4th and 5th from 8am – 7pm at Sevier Funeral Home.

Delbert was born on November 4,, 1948 in Chickasha, OK to Verl Alva Busby and Fleeta Maurice Bayless.  He passed from this life on Thursday January 30, 2025 in the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center at the age of 76.

Delbert was a proud retired Naval Fireman Apprentice serving during the Vietnam war on the USS Forrestal CVA-59.  Delbert served on the ship when a rocket misfire caused a fatal fire that killed 134 and injured 161 of his fellow crewmen.  He joined the military on 11/30/1965 and was honorably discharged on 07/19/1968.    He was also a retired truck driver, hauling petroleum and freight products all over the United States.  He previously owned a business making leather products.  He was very skilled at working with leather.  He made beautiful wallets, purses, belts, picture album covers and saddles.  Delbert was a huge John Wayne fan.  He enjoyed watching movies, going to the casinos, listening to country music and going fishing. He was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge.

Delbert is preceded in death by his son Aaron Busby on August 8, 2024, his mother, daddy Lester Ray Glass, and brothers-in-law Bill Ewy and Sunny Richardson.

Delbert is survived by his children, Clay Busby (Kelli) and Debbie Michels (Donnie), sisters Fleeta Richardson,  Andrea Pettijohn (Cliff), and Teresa Williams (Gary), grandchildren, Chris Busby (Jennifer), Brook Crane (Chase), Hailee Busby, Kayla Michels, Trevor Michels, Tristan Busby, and Madison Busby and a host of family including aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
