Deborah Martin
Funeral Service will be Monday, April 14, 2025 at 10 am at Southern Oaks Church of Christ in Chickasha with burial following at Ft. Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Deborah Sue Moore Martin was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, on April 19, 1948. She grew up in nearby Ninnekah, alongside her seven beautiful, rowdy brothers and sisters, playing basketball and rodeoing, finding particular success in running barrels and earning first runner-up Miss Rodeo Oklahoma in 1967. Deborah graduated from Ninnekah High School in 1966. After high school, she worked for several years with Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator. She was ambitious and worked hard to earn supervisor status. While working for the phone company in Chickasha, Deborah met and married Gerald Mikel Martin, and one of the loves of her life, Christopher, was born. Deborah and Chris would maintain a special bond all her life. Her beloved daughter, Tiffany, was born several years later. Figuring prominently for Deborah and Gerald were his medical practice and military career. Gerald retired as a general practitioner and Army Lieutenant Colonel in 2017. In her own right, though, Deborah was an award-winning realtor/broker for many years, first in Lawton and later in McAlester. Gerald and Deborah made their home in Frederick for their children's growing-up years, later settling in McAlester and finally, Tulsa. Crowned Mrs. Oklahoma in 1992, Deborah was very proud of her years spent modeling, entertaining, and developing her many gifts. She graduated from Cameron University in 1988, never failing to mention how her son graduated high school the same year and extolling the virtues of education! Deborah loved fiercely and will be remembered as an extraordinarily generous, loving presence to her children, husband, siblings, grandchildren, and friends. After a short but intense fight with ovarian cancer, she passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025.
Deborah is survived by her husband, Gerald, son, Christopher, daughter-in-law, Michelle, daughter, Tiffany, and six beautiful grandchildren she was so proud of: London, Lily, Noah, Tristin, Ford, and May. She is also survived by three sisters: Trinsa, Teena, and Melissa, and three brothers: Nick, Rick, and Shane. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Wanda Moore and one brother, Robert Lynn.
Deborah's favorite, soft white roses, may be sent to Sevier Funeral Home. To honor her, donations can be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition in memory of Deborah Martin.
