David Smith

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at the Laverty Baptist Church, Cement, OK.

Pallbearers will be Ben Ott, Clifford Chaney, Mikey Bambeck, Jeffery Duncan, Sheldon Robison, Ty Smith, Tater Smith and Patrick Pace.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Cogburn, Michael Chaney, Justin Duggan, Dustin Duggan, Todd Smith, Travis Smith, Ethan Chaney, Jason  Duggan and Jay Koda Cogburn.

John David Smith was born January 4, 1987 in Wilburton, Oklahoma to his parents, Jennifer Deann Robison and Raymond B. Smith.  He passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020 near Cyril, Oklahoma at the age of 33.

David, as he was known by friends and family, spent his early life in Hartford, Arkansas.  He later lived in the Bengal, Oklahoma area before moving to Cement, Oklahoma.  He spent most of his time working on the farm with his grandpa.  David graduated from Cement High School in 2006 where he was active in football, basketball, rodeo and FFA.

He married Andy Cook in 2009 in Summerfield, Oklahoma.  He and Andy had four children together, Roper, Justin, Jace and Riley Jean.  David loved his family and tried hard to be what each of them wanted.  He worked mostly as a ranch hand and loved anything to do with cows and horses.  He was an all-around cowboy.

David never met a stranger and he loved to make people laugh and was always cutting up and joking around.  He loved his many cousins and left them all with some great memories and better stories.

David had one brother and five sisters who he adored.  He loved being big brother to all of them, even to the one who was older.

The love of David's life was Andy and his children.  Although their marriage didn't last, he loved Andy to the end.  David's eyes would light up with his children.  He enjoyed playing with them and being their dad.

David's heroes were his grandpas, he thought they were as big as King Kong.

David is survived by his 4 children:  Roper Lane Smith; Justin Colt Wade Smith; Jace Reed Smith; and Riley Jean Deanna Smith;

His father, Raymond B. Smith;

His paternal grandparents, Alfred and Gertrude (Reddin) Smith, of Cement, OK;

His maternal grandmother and step grandfather, Wanda Lay and Jim Ryan, of Leflore, OK;

Brother, William Randall Cooper;

Sisters: Tajah Smith and husband, Jason Cogburn, of Red Oak, OK; Charmyn and Courtney Smith of Talihina, OK;   Lakeesha and Deanna Cooper of Poteau, OK;

and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

David was preceded in death by his mother Jennifer Deann (Robison) Cooper;

Stepfather Randall Cooper; and his maternal grandpa John David Robison.

Interment will be 2:00 p.m, Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Baldwin Cemetery, Wilburton, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha, OK.
