David “Larry” Grant, 82, passed away surrounded by family in Chickasha, Oklahoma Thursday April 9, 2026.
He was born in Washington, Indiana on January 5, 1944, to Donald and Maurine Grant.
Larry graduated from Arthur High School in Illinois, class of 1962, before beginning a milk delivery service. After moving to Oklahoma, he continued the milk delivery service until he began work in the oilfield at the age of 29. He began working overseas putting out oil rig fires in 1991, continuing to work overseas in oilfield as a driller until he retired.
He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps and was passionate about gardening. Watching sports was his favorite past-time, especially OU football and Thunder basketball, as well as NASCAR and Cardinal baseball. Larry loved being with his family, but his greatest love was his wife of 38 years LaDonna Grant married on December 5, 1987.
Larry is survived by his wife Ladonna Grant, 5 daughters Deidra Grant, Donna Grant, Angie Grant, Kelly Gregory, Crystal Merrick and fiancé Frankie Lopez and 1 son Darrell Grant and wife Tifany; and 11 grandchildren including, Derek Gregory, Hunter and Hayden Merrick who were especially close to him, and 8 great grandchildren.
He is further survived by his siblings, John and wife Salema Grant, Steven and wife Anita Grant; sisters-in-law, Barbara Ramsey and Ruby Felton; brother-in-law, Kenneth Malone.
He is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Maurine Grant. Brothers: Donald, Norman, Robert, Gary, and Ronald Grant, Sister: Margaret Dukeman, Great Grandson: Andrew Turner.
Celebration of life will be held at Sevier Funeral Home in Chickasha, OK April 14th at 1:00pm. Graveside following service at Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
