Darlene Phelps

Willie Darlene (Daniel) Phelps, age 93, died Saturday, February 6, 2016, at her home. She was born October 6, 1922, in Pocasset, OK to Roy E. Daniel and Iva B. (Curtis) Daniel. Darlene graduated from Pocasset High School in 1939 and Oklahoma College for Women (USAO) in 1942. She married Leonard Phelps on November 23, 1948.

Darlene and Leonard moved away for a few years but spent most of their lives together on the farm in Pocasset. Darlene loved the family farm and home where she lived for her last 59 years.

Darlene worked at the old Chickasha Airport for a short time. She was a dedicated volunteer at Grady Memorial Hospital for many years. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels delivering meals to others. She was a faithful member of the Pocasset United Methodist Church.

Darlene is survived by her three children: Dan Phelps and Maritza Cortes of League City, TX; Dana Phelps Elmer and Bill Elmer of Henderson, NV; and Doug Phelps and Lyla Phelps of Tuttle, OK; four grandchildren: Kristin Phelps Roller and Josh Roller of Fayetteville, AR; Lindsey Phelps of St. Louis, MO; Jennifer Elmer of Seattle, WA; and Bryan Phelps of Oklahoma City, OK; and three great-grandchildren: Delaney Roller, Annabelle Roller, and Emery Roller all of Fayetteville, AR.

Darlene was full of joy and shared that joy with all those around her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
