Daniel Louis Friskel, 74, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, passed away on May 8, 2026.

Born on October 2, 1951, in Pittsburg, Kansas, Dan was raised in Frontenac, Kansas, by his parents, Joseph W. Friskel and Doris J. Friskel (Gillenwater). He graduated from Frontenac High School with the Class of 1969. As a young man, he worked alongside his family at Friskel Funeral Home, beginning a lifelong connection to the funeral service. He later attended Rockhurst University, where he earned his associate’s degree, and graduated from embalming school in 1977.

In 1982, Dan spent a year gold mining in Northern California and Arizona, an adventure that reflected his independent spirit and love of life’s unique experiences. In 1983, he moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma, where he began his funeral directing career with Sevier Funeral Home.

Dan was first married to Denice James (Vaughn), with whom he had two daughters, Anissa Alcorn and Jennifer Watts, he loved his daughters with all his heart and never missed a chance to show it.

He was later married to Angeline Friskel (Ruth), and together they operated Dangie’s Antiques for more than 20 years. Their work together reflected Dan’s lifelong passion for buying, selling, and restoring treasured pieces from the past. He especially enjoyed repairing old watches and collecting political buttons and military memorabilia. Through this marriage, he also gained two children, Rodney Biby and Janis Biby.

Later in life, Dan married Cathy McHuen, and through this marriage he gained three more children: Leslie Campbell, Jason McHuen, and Jeff McHuen.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Joseph W. Friskel; his mother, Doris J. Friskel (Gillenwater); his brothers, Timothy J. Friskel and Michael A. Friskel; and his wife, Cathy McHuen.

He is survived by his daughters, Anissa Alcorn and husband Shane Rowell of Ninnekah, Oklahoma, and Jennifer Watts and husband Aaron Watts of Frontenac, Kansas; his sister, Clare E. Dyas and husband John Dyas of Bella Vista, Arkansas; his brothers, James P. Friskel (Jim) of Catskill, New York, and Joseph W. Friskel of Frontenac, Kansas; his children Rodney Biby, Janis Biby, Leslie Campbell, Jason McHuen, and Jeff McHuen; along with many loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dan had a deep love for sharing stories of family history and often enjoyed reminiscing about good times from the past. He cherished gathering with family and friends, especially over meals, where he enjoyed good conversation and the company of those he cared about.

He will be remembered for his knowledge, his love of history and antiques, his adventurous nature, and the many friendships he built throughout his life. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
