Cindy Novotny Swopes, of Tuttle, OK, passed away on January 14, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 61. She was born December 21, 1960, in Chickasha, OK to John Vincent Novotny and Frances Lorene (Carrol) Novotny.

Cindy Novotny Swopes. raised in Pocasset, Oklahoma, spent most of her youth working on the family farm, riding motorcycles, and displaying her prowess through competitive sports. Cindy's competitive spirit was undeniable and uncontainable. She attended Amber-Pocasset schools where she excelled at her favorite subject: basketball.

Little changed after she graduated from high school. Cindy began her career when she joined the Little Axe Public School system in the 1980s. A change in geography only further highlighted her passions. She took Little Axe by storm, working as secretary, athletic director, and volunteer basketball and softball coach for the girls' teams. Cindy's enthusiasm was infectious. Her dedication and commitment to the students of Little Axe was endless and inspirational to those lucky enough to have the chance to know her. Lovingly known as "Aunt Cindy" to hundreds, she touched countless lives during her time at the Axe.

The lives of students and coworkers weren't the only ones impacted by Cindy's time at the Axe. It was here that she met and married her partner in life, Danny Swopes. The couple was married in October 1995 which only seemed to catapult Cindy's desires to face additional challenges surrounding her. After building a home in Tuttle, Oklahoma, Cindy loved and raised over twelve dogs and several cats. Her compassion for the well-being of animals reiterated her love and compassion for those needing to feel "home." Cindy was not only the first to volunteer to care for animals when gaps in care needed to be filled, but Cindy often discussed her desire to own hundreds of acres with sufficient space to rescue homeless animals.

In 2007, Cindy fearlessly pursued another passion when she bought the Old Ball Park, a sports memorabilia store in southwest Oklahoma City. She worked tirelessly selling memorabilia, befriending and touching the lives of countless customers. As much as she made the Old Ball Park a family affair, she could often be found there beaming with pride six days a week discussing her first love, sports.

Cindy enjoyed watching the Cubs. Her love for the Oklahoma City Thunder was only rivaled by her love for Westbrook and could often be found with friends and family at their home games. And, to know Cindy, it goes without saying that none of this diminished her love for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. She was the most avid, dare I say rabid, and loyal "Poke."

Luckily, her family was the beneficiary of her boundless love and loyalty. The time Cindy spent with family was precious to her and her family alike. Anyone provided with the privilege to celebrate the 4th of July at her home in Tuttle knows that Cindy's approached family time with the same unrelenting force she did with every other passion in her life. She never did anything halfway. She was in her element playing games, cooking, and setting things on fire. She truly made this world a brighter place, literally and figuratively.

Unfortunately for us still here, on January 14, 2022, Cindy's fight to better the world ceased to exist as we know it. She succumbed to complications due to COVID and transformed her efforts to a new geography and, no doubt, new methods. We know that she has finally found her hundreds of acres and that she is now in the "home" she provided for so many. There is no doubt that she is looking down, rooting us on, and demanding that same exacting dedication that she always expected. We love you Aunt Cindy and can not help but try to make you proud and hope to shine a light in your stead.
