Funeral service for Charles Edward Bishop will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Maranatha Baptist Church in Chickasha, OK. Interment will follow the service at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Visitation for Brother Chuck will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 5pm-7pm at Sevier Funeral Home.
Charles Edward Bishop, known to all as Brother Chuck, was born on July 23, 1937 in Beech Grove, Indiana to Ralph Waldo Emerson Bishop and Mary Gertrude (Farris) Bishop. He passed from this life on Monday, January 27, 2025 in Chickasha, OK at the age of 87.
Brother Chuck grew up in Indiana and after graduating high school moved to California. He joined the Air Force in September 1956. He received an honorable discharge from the Air Force after serving four years in September of 1960. Brother Chuck married Lila Conover on July 4, 1959 in Akron, CO. They had three wonderful children, Jeff, Faith and Beth. He received his Bachelors of Divinity degree and started his ministry in 1968. He moved to Chickasha, OK and served the Chickasha community since 1985. He was the Pastor of Maranatha Baptist Church from 1985-2018. He touched countless lives in this church and the community. He started the mission program from nothing to take the gospel all over the world.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lila Conover Bishop, who passed December 19, 2007; his parents, Ralph Waldo Emerson Bishop and Mary Gertrude (Farris) Bishop; his siblings, Betty, Robert, Margaret, William and Linda.
Brother Chuck is survived by his son, Jeff Bishop and his wife Sheila Bishop of Kennedale, TX, his daughter, Faith Bishop of Chickasha, OK, his daughter, Elizabeth Gibson and her husband Shawn of Alvarado, TX; his 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and family.
Brother Chuck was a faithful servant of God and will be dearly missed.
