Cathy Jean McHuen, born July 19, 1951, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, in Oklahoma City, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 74.

A lifelong Oklahoman, Cathy spent the last 11 years of her life in Chickasha, where she forged deep and meaningful connections in the community. She was born to Frank Edward Campbell and Beverly Jean Olson and grew up in Oklahoma City, also spending some time in Kansas in her early life.

Cathy was a natural-born conversationalist and salesperson at heart, never motivated by money, but by the joy of connecting with people. Over the years, she worked in and owned multiple furniture businesses, including a pillow company, several waterbed and bed stores, and also sold insurance and cable services door-to-door. She simply loved talking to people - whether it was a customer walking through the door or someone she met in passing. Conversations with Cathy were never rushed; there was no such thing as a "quick call" to Mom or to Cathy. She never wanted the conversation to end, and remarkably, it was almost never about herself - only about the other person, their stories, their needs, and how she could help. This selflessness made her a truly exceptional salesperson, always putting people over profit. She was never concerned with money and was quick to hand it out to those in need, often giving away or losing more than she made because she refused to take advantage of anyone.

Everyone who knew her will fondly remember her signature response: that simple, expressive "Ah." Whether the news was good or bad, joyful or challenging, she'd respond with just "Ah" - a single syllable packed with understanding, empathy, amusement, or quiet acknowledgment. It was her special way of saying so much with so little, and it became an endearing hallmark of her personality.

Despite facing considerable adversity in her life, Cathy maintained a bright outlook and happy demeanor that uplifted everyone around her. She overcame challenges with remarkable inner strength and determination, refusing to let circumstances or others control her path. Having children at a young age, she saw it as one of life's greatest blessings, never a burden. Her three sons - Leslie Frank Campbell, Jeff McHuen, and Jason McHuen - were the absolute center of her world. She loved them fiercely and gave endlessly of herself, stepping in to shield them from difficulties whenever she could, always as their biggest supporter, confidante, and protector. She loved seeing her children and grandchildren grow, taking immense joy in their lives and accomplishments. She always jumped at the opportunity to travel to see her kids when you could, whether it was across the country to California, Virginia, North Carolina or Texas.

Cathy built lasting friendships throughout her life and stayed in touch with many over the decades, often following family and friends closely on Facebook, as so many remember. She had a playful "wild side" that was really just innocent fun shared with friends and family - joyful moments full of laughter and lightness. Those close to her will smile thinking of her beloved Mustang with the custom-detailed lettering on the back window, a fun, spirited touch she never removed.

She was fortunate to share her last few years with Dan Friskel, her devoted husband. They cherished each other beyond words and were truly meant to be together. Despite the physical challenges that age brought, it never diminished the strength of their love and desire to share their lives. Although unable to be by Dan's side in her final years, she always spoke of him with deep affection and saw him as often as transportation allowed. She loved Dan, and Dan loved her. Finding each other later in life was a wonderful gift that her family and friends all wish had come much earlier. Dan was a caring and giving person, a perfect match for Cathy, and he was warmly accepted into her life by her friends and family without exception.

To so many, the phrase "the best person I have ever known" feels overused, yet with Cathy, it truly fits. Her kindness, resilience, warmth, selflessness, and genuine love for others touched countless lives in profound ways. This is a devastating loss, and her family, friends, customers, and all who knew her will miss her wonderful presence, her endless conversations, and that unforgettable "Ah" every single day.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Dan Friskel, with whom she shared many cherished years; her beloved sons: Leslie Frank Campbell, Jeff McHuen, and Jason McHuen; and her cherished grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Cathy's memory through acts of kindness - reaching out to someone in need, sharing a long conversation, following up with loved ones, or simply saying "Ah" with love and understanding.

Cathy's legacy of generosity, connection, and quiet strength will live on forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She was truly one of a kind.
