Bob L. Hartline

May 5, 1940 — May 11, 2016

Bob Hartline was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma on May 5, 1940 to Tommie F. Hartline and Edith M. Gibson Hartline. He passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 76.

Bob grew up around Bridgecreek and Chickasha, Oklahoma. He graduated from Chickasha High School in 1958. After Bob graduated he went to Railroad (Telegrapher) School in Pueblo, Colorado. Bob married Betty Perkins on July 4, 1959. (They met on February 13, 1959 – Love at first sight.) They have been married 56 years.

Bob worked for Western Union as a teletype operator the first several years they were married. Bob and Betty began a long journey across the country, from town to town, state to state with Bob taking assignments as reliefs for other managers in the offices across the country. He had some very interesting assignments, one of which was when he got the assignment of sending press for one of John F. Kennedy's campaign stops when he was campaigning for the presidency. Another was when he was sent to Los Angeles to work in the offices there and got to send press at one of the World Series. Another interesting assignment was meeting Augie Busch of Anheuser Busch Co. at another World Series in St. Louis.

Bob and Betty had two children, a daughter, Tammy D'Ann and a son, Ricky Lynn. They have two grandchildren, Melissa and Nathan and two great grandchildren all of the St. Louis, Missouri area. After the children were born, Bob got off the road to settle down and went to work for McDonnell Douglas/Boeing, where he retired after 24 years.

In 2000, Bob and Betty moved back to Oklahoma where they retired. Shortly after arriving in Oklahoma, Bob went to work for WalMart just to have something to keep him busy. He had always kidded everyone that he would become a "greeter" for Walmart but management recognized his abilities and had other plans for him. He worked several departments in Anadarko and Lindsay Walmarts. He took the management test just to see if he could pass it, he did the first time but refused a management job, he had been down that road and just wanted a job since he was retired after all.

Bob's hobbies were coin collecting, Trap and Skeet Shooting (of which he won several trophies, etc. in St. Louis, MO area), he also enjoyed fishing and later in life, gardening. One of his most recent enjoyments was target practice with his great nephew, Kanyon Roberts.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Tommie Hartline and mother, Edith Hartline. His grandparents, Ida and Leslie Gibson of Blanchard and Mollie and Jim Hartline of Chickasha. His son-in-law, Dan Bartner of St. Louis, MO and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Also father-in-law, Homer Perkins of Lindsay and brothers-in-law, Bill Roberts and Lloyd Meyers.

Bob is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; daughter, Tammy; son, Rick; and grand and great grandchildren of St. Louis, MO. Also a sister, Barbara Sue Meyers of Anadarko and niece, Connie Issacs; Sister-in-law, Judy Roberts, nephews Kanyon Roberts and Dakota Elledge and his family, Christina and Maddox, also nieces, Marcy, Tonya, Bambi Roberts and Roni Rodriquez and Nikki and his mother-in-law, Letress Perkins.
