Bob Lavern Cantrell

Robert "Bob" Lavern Cantrell passed from this life on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the age of 83. He was born to Lavern Floyd Cantrell and Emma (Robbins) Cantrell on November 2, 1939, in Ninnekah, Oklahoma.

Bob grew up in Lindsay, Oklahoma, and graduated from Lindsay High School in 1957. He went to Central State and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1961. Bob began teaching at Friend School in 1963 where he worked for 15 years, during that time he was a basketball coach, principal, superintendent, and anything else they needed him to be. After working for Friend School, he went to work for Cities Service Oil Company as a production consultant. He later worked for Chesapeake Energy as an independent drilling consultant and retired from Chesapeake in 2006.

He met his wife, Charlene when she moved to the Friend area and they were married on January 21, 1964, in Vernon, Texas. They had 3 wonderful children, Robin, Bobby, and Buffy. They raised their children on the farm they had between Chickasha and Blanchard, where they spent 59 wonderful years of marriage.

Some of Bob's favorite things to do were roping and team roping, as well as working cattle on the farm. He enjoyed going on trips and visiting with everyone he came across; Bob never met a stranger.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lavern Floyd Cantrell and Emma (Robbins) Cantrell; and cousin, Phindle Robbins.

Bob is survived by his wife, Charlene Jo (Porter) Cantrell; children, Robin Burton and husband, Steve, Bobby Cantrell and Tamika, and Buffy Sullivan and husband, Justin; grandchildren, Ashley Foster and husband, Garrett, Steven Burton Jr. and wife, Sheri, Cade Cantrell and wife, Brooke; great-grandchildren, Zane Burton, Briggs Burton, Emmy Foster, Creed Foster, and Sloane Kayt Foster; as well as numerous other family and loved ones.
