Bill Eugene Harris

Immediate burial was held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the Ninnekah Cemetery, Ninnekah, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Bill Eugene Harris, of Ninnekah, OK, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 in Chickasha, OK at the age of 91. He was born June 1, 1930 in Ninnekah, OK to Calvin Houston Harris and Myrtle May (Liston) Harris.

Bill was born in Rocky Ford, OK, then moved to Arizona and California.  Bill's family moved around quite a bit.  Bill met his wife Dorothy Pearl (Robertson) Harris in Arizona.  They were married and had 3 children together, Valt Houston, Darvin Darrell, and Shirley June.  Bill and his wife, Dorothy, moved back to Oklahoma where they raised their family.  Bill served on the Chickasha Police Department for a short time and then joined the Chickasha Fire Department. He eventually became the Fire Chief in 1971 and retired in 1980.

While Bill was working for the Fire Department, he also owned a trucking business and also had a business as a home builder in the Chickasha area.

Bill had a lot of different hobbies.  He started attending flea markets, where he would sell popcorn, cotton candy, and many different items.  Bill would go out to Arizona and California and pan for gold. He would also sell trailers that he hauled back and forth from California, he also loved working on old Ford Tractors.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy; siblings, Opal Marie Spann, Valta Arlie Harris, Alta Larita Plowman, Ola Hazel Stephens, and June Evangilene Hawkins.

Bill is survived by his children: Valt Houston Harris, Darvin Darrell Harris, and Shirley June Harris; and his grandchildren: Darrell, Skipper, Amy, Tommy, Billy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
