Graveside service for Bill Conner will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Fairview Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Billy (Bill) Ray Conner passed from this life at his home in Seminole, OK on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at the age of 92. He was born on October 23, 1932 to John Earl Conner and (Daisy) Mary Kathern (Crocket) Conner in Tuttle, OK.
Bill attended Bridge Creek Elementary for 1st and 2nd grade then Tuttle Schools for 3rd through 12th grades. He graduated from Tuttle High School in 1952. Bill worked in wheat harvest from Colorado through Texas during his Junior and Senior years of high school. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953 and served at Fort Bliss, TX for two years, where he worked the radar unit. After his discharge, he returned home to Tuttle, OK.
He attended Oklahoma City University and worked on the farm until he married Beverly J. Trammel in June of 1956. They moved to Odessa, TX where Bill worked in the oil field pipeline industry until he was called back to Oklahoma to work for Tinker Air Force Base. He worked at Tinker until retirement. During this time, he worked as a carpenter for two years then transferred into the Turbine unit where he specialized in airplane turbine building and repairing for the next twenty years. Bill made many friends and shared many domino partners there.
During this time, he fathered four children, one girl, Anita Gayle, and three boys, John Alton, William Arnold, and Blake Lane. He built five new houses and repaired several older ones. Bill enjoyed camping, fishing, raising horses, cattle and raising dogs with his family. He was an avid football fan, and he especially enjoyed watching and attending football games his sons played in.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl John and Mary Kathern (Daisy) Conner; his three sisters, Earlean Conner McDonald, Wanda June Conner Ball and Peggy Jo Conner Lampkin; one brother, Bobby Lee Conner; two sons, John Alton Conner and Blake Lane Conner; one son-in-law, Maxwell (Max) D. Hames; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Bill is survived by his wife of 69 years, Beverly J. Conner; his daughter, Anita Gayle McCraw; his son, William Arnold Conner and wife Cindy; his daughter-in-laws, Joyce (Jo) Conner and Laura L. Conner; nephew, Greg Conner; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bill was loved and respected by all.
