Barbara Kemp

Barbara Faye Kemp was born November 29, 1940 in Sudan, Texas to James Crowder and Betty Lou Lovelady. She passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at her home in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 75.

She was raised in and around Colorado City, Texas. As a young girl she helped her family by picking cotton in the fields.

She married Jimmy Joe Kemp on March 29, 1956 on the Texas/New Mexico state line by the headlights of a car with her mother as a witness. The family came to Oklahoma in the early 1960's. They have lived in Chickasha for over 50 years.

Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother and lived life to the fullest, from the funny things she said to just being with her family. She loved her family more than anything and always put them first before herself. Over the years we have grown together as a family. Our mother had to learn to lead after the death of our father and met this challenge head on. She loved to laugh and most of the time it was at herself. Everyone has a special memory of her and no matter what she always made you laugh. She loved everyone she came into contact with and everyone became a better person after meeting her. They say "It's not what you have when you leave this world, but what you leave behind". She left behind love, character, morals and a Godly example for her children, grandchildren and many children whom she taught in her Sunday School class.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Kemp on June 10, 1999; her parents: James Crowder and Betty Haygood; 2 sisters: Ozella Hardin and Corabell Barnes; and 3 brothers: Buck Crowder, Felix Crowder and Alfred Crowder.

She is survived by:
3 sons: Billy Kemp and his wife, Christy, of Idabel, OK;
Jimmy Kemp and his wife, Michelle, of Newcastle, OK;
David Kemp and his wife, Rachele, of Chickasha, OK;
3 daughters: Debbie Mackey and her husband, Darrell, of Marlow, OK;
Connie Johnson and her husband, Dan, of Desert Hot Springs, CA:
Carolyn Mackey and her husband, Tim, of Marlow, OK;
13 grandchildren: Nathan Mackey and his wife, Erica; Jake Mackey and Teylyn Pineira;
Trey Mackey and Jordan Hunt; Blue Mackey and wife, Tori;
Eric Mackey and wife, Niki; Brandon Bryant and wife, Katie;
Ashley Kemp; Daniel Johnson and Teri Snider; Jeremy Johnson; Taylor Johnson;
Lakisha Mitchusson and husband, Chris; Jade Cooper and Emily Kemp
9 Great grandchildren and 1 soon to be great grandchild;
1 brother, Jim Crowder;
1 sister, JoEllen Dundee;
And best friend, Pat Fitzpatrick of 50 years.
