Anna Rachel Douglas, born June 12, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio to Jewish and Dutch parents, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior the evening of September 15, 2022. Preceded in death by her husband Vernon "Gene" Douglas, sister Sarah Donikowski, son-in-law Tim McClure, and Jill Jensen Douglas; Anna leaves behind five children, Michael and Scherie Douglas of Houston, TX; Pam McClure of Chickasha, OK; Mark and Rhonda Douglas of Mustang, OK; Sandra and Bryan Hetherington of Davis, OK; Matt and Carla Douglas of Houston, TX. In addition, 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Anna grew up in San Diego, California. During the Korean War, Anna sang in a trio with her sisters Sarah and Mary at regional Youth for Christ events. Through one of these events, she met her handsome sailor, Gene Douglas, who was based out of Balboa Naval Base in San Diego. They were married February 21, 1954, shortly before Gene shipped out.

In 1963, with five children under the age of ten, they left the cities of southern California and moved to the countryside of Tuttle, Oklahoma. Anna was introduced to raising vegetable gardens, milking a cow, raising pigs, chickens, rabbits, and a goat named Billy. Subsequent years were spent in Elk City, Moore, Sulphur, and Chickasha.

A wife, mother, teacher, gardener, and published author, Anna was first and foremost committed to the Lord and His church. Starting at home she taught her children scripture and songs of worship, leading by example the practice of personal prayer and scripture reading.

Anna taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and had a particular passion for Women's Ministry, starting the women's group Serendipity and leading several Ladies Retreats.

Family heritage was important to Anna, particularly the Jewish side, as her father was the sole member of his family to escape the Holocaust. With a talent for storytelling, Anna delighted her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with stories of a mouse named Snicklefrom. Adults enjoyed the recollections Anna had of the many schoolchildren she taught in Tuttle, Elk City, and Moore.
