Allen Frederick Long

Allen Frederick Long passed from this life at home, surrounded by his family, on September 26, 2026 at the age of 92. He was born on June 29, 1934 to Lucy (Will) Long and Frederick Long.

Funeral service for Allen Long will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Chickasha, OK. Interment for Allen Long will be at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Come and go Viewing will be held at Sevier Funeral Home for Allen Long on Monday, September 28, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, September 29, 2026 from  8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Allen was born in Harbor Beach, Michigan on the family farm. He was the youngest son, affectionately called “Bud”, and worked on the farm into his thirties. At the age of 28, he met Sue Elkins from Oklahoma, who had come to a nearby town to teach school. They met on a blind double date in February of 1963 and were married on July 20, 1963 at First Baptist Church in Chickasha, OK. Their first child, Angela, was born 10 months later. Allen and Sue had two more daughters, Nella and Christy. Allen began work at GTE Telephone after Nella was born. In 1978, after Allen’s father died, the family moved to Sue’s home town of Chickasha, OK. Allen worked for six months at USAO. He then began working at Chickasha Public Schools in the Maintenance Department until his retirement in 1997. In his retirement he enjoyed restoring antique tractors, wood-working, gardening, raising chickens, and enjoying the many children in his life who called him “Poppa Bud”.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sue Long; his parents , Fred and Lucy Long; his in-laws, Ernie and Othella Elkins; 2 brothers, Ray and Melvin; 4 sisters, Frances, Violet, Irene and Bernice.

Allen is survived by his daughters: Angela Lewis (Doug) of Chickasha, Nella Osborne (James) of Broken Arrow, and Christy Fletcher of Chickasha; his grandchildren: Cassidy Fletcher of Chickasha, Callie Osborne of Broken Arrow, and Ben Osborne currently stationed in Anchorage, Alaska with the Army; his great-grandchildren: Elias and Titan Henderson; bonus granddaughters: Maureen, Madeline and Lily. He is also survived by his sister, Thelma Long Viger of Algonac, Michigan, and by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
