Aletha Joy Terry

Aletha Joy Terry was born on July 17, 1934 in Levelland, Texas to Jewel B. (Ferguson) and Roy Cecil Wood. She passed away on March 12, 2024 in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 89.

Funeral Service for Aletha Joy Terry will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Middleberg Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest at the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Aletha was baptized at age 13 at the Church of Christ North in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Aletha was presently a member of Middleberg Baptist Church in Middleberg, Oklahoma.

She attended schools at Springscreek, Harris and Middleberg. Aletha had several jobs. She was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Aletha was also a shoe sales person at Williams Shoe Store and The Economy Shoe Store. Aletha worked at State Farm Insurance for Ken Singleton Agency in Chickasha, OK for 21 years and the State Farm L.B. Hoyle Agency and Teresa Martin Agency in Lindsay, OK, for 17 years. Aletha retired in 2012 due to her health.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Wesley Terry; her son, Gerald Ray Terry; her parents, Roy Cecil Wood, Jewel B. Wood and Velmer Wood; her brothers, Arlton Wood, L.C. Wood, Delbert Wood, and Henry Cleal Wood; her sister-in-laws, Shirley Wyant, Nellie Terry, Betty Terry, and Teresa Wood; her brother-in-laws, Clifford Terry, Ronald Terry, and Billy Wyant.

Aletha is survived by her daughters, Sheila Thompson and husband Mike of Dibble, OK, Malinda Hartman and husband Kerry of Rush Springs, OK; nine grandchildren, Cody Terry, Rusty Thompson, Beth Turpin and husband Kelcee, Dusty Thompson, Mariah Jung and husband Steve, Tyler Smith and wife Meghan, Tanner Smith, Mikayla Thompson, and Steven McQueen; seven great grandchildren, Landin Turpin, Lukus Turpin, Bocephus Turpin, Dayton Smith, Remington Smith, Colt Smith and Georgia Anthony; her brother, Roy Wood; her sister-in-law, Nelda Wood; her brother-in-law, Harold Terry; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers will include her Grandsons: Cody Terry, Rusty Thompson, Dusty Thompson, Kelcee Turpin, Tyler Smith, Tanner Smith and Steven McQueen.

Honorary Pallbearers: Wayne Howe, Steve Grodecki, David Hurley, Lynn Wood, Mike Wood, Toby Howe, and Jeremy Howe.
